Ad Lab is a student-led nonprofit focused on storytelling, design, and civic engagement.
It began with a simple idea: the way stories are told shapes how people and communities are understood. From media coverage to everyday conversations, narrative influences what is seen, what is believed, and what is often overlooked.
Ad Lab works to make those narratives more intentional.
Storytelling is often treated as something creative or secondary. In reality, it plays a central role in shaping public perception.
The way an issue is framed can influence how people respond to it. The stories that are shared, and the ones that are not, affect how communities are represented and understood.
Ad Lab exists to explore that relationship between storytelling, media, and impact.
Capturing real moments through events, interviews, and community engagement.
Translating complex ideas into clear, visual narratives.
Sharing stories that broaden understanding and bring attention to underrepresented perspectives.
As Ad Lab expands, it aims to further develop Field Notes as a space for documenting how narratives influence public understanding and civic engagement.
Future work will focus on engaging with a wider range of communities, capturing diverse perspectives, and examining how access to storytelling and media shapes participation in larger social and civic systems.
Through this, Ad Lab seeks to contribute to a more thoughtful and inclusive understanding of how stories shape the way society functions.
